RainCamp - Our New Training Program - Starts In Seattle, WA

ActiveRain RainCamp - Our New Training Program - Starts In Seattle and you're Invited!

This has to be one of the most exciting announcements I've ever had the privilege to post on AR.  I remember signing up that "rainy" day back in February of 2007.  My first question was, "Where Do I find the Owners Manual for this place?"  My next thought was, "How do I get the most out of Social Networking and Blogging here?  Does this stuff really work?"  OMG! My Journey began that day, and would turn out to be way more than I ever anticipated or expected.  We have all watched the AR community grow in more ways than just our membership and business growth, we have seen it change peoples lives and impact the Real Estate Industry.

It's time to take the Network and Community on the Road.  We are going to "Rain" in cities all over the Country.  It's New, it's Exciting, it's Awesome, and it's called RainCamp.  The first one will start in our Corporate backyard, the beautiful City of Seattle.  This is a huge turning point for ActiveRain, and also for our members and those who attend.

RainCamp.com - "Because the way we do business has changed!"

Who: Join Seattle's most forward thinking real estate professionals to master the nuances of modern real estate marketing.

What: Six hours of cutting edge real estate technology and social media training.

When: October 7th, 2009 (Registration is @8:00am)

Where: Bell Harbor Conference Center in Seattle, WA

Why: Learn how to use the latest innovations to exploit this ever changing environment, and redefine your position as an industry expert and leader. Because you are a pioneer and because you refuse to be left behind.

What Do You Get?

The Venue: This is a High-end, High-Tech facility with stadium seating and comfy Aeron Chairs with plenty of elbow room. All the comforts you'd expect at the Taj Mahal. The setting is a top-notch environment where you can relax, learn and enjoy the day and program we have planned for you.

  • A single-track conference with quality content
  • Wi-Fi, professionally managed (Bring your laptop.)
  • Business networking opportunities
  • Conversations and experiences of a lifetime!

How is RainCamp different from other Conferences?

  • Assess how you stack up in the modern market.
  • Listen to people that are practicing what they preach, and having outstanding success doing it.
  • Learn the methodology of a newer agent who has leveraged the Internet to become a 'Mega Producer'.
  • Walk away with executables you can put into action immediately.
  • Hard core real estate technology education. This is not a fluff event!!

The "RainCamp" Schedule

Modern Day Real Estate Marketing (9:00a - 9:30a)

Find out where you rank before we kick off the day. How does your social profile rate against your neighbor? How can you expand that presence and create connections that are meaningful in a professional manner? Understanding where we are is the only way to figure out where we need to go.

Meet the Speaker: Bob Stewart

Search Engine Marketing (9:30a - 10:30a)

Advertising is undergoing a radical transformation. As advertising dollars make an exodus from print to online marketing, do you know how to position your advertising budget to get the most impact out of each dollar? As most of your potential clients go online to make purchase decisions, knowing how to target them in the places they reside will be instrumental in ensuring they do business with you.

Meet the Speaker: Ben Kinney

Break (10:15a - 10:30a)

Converting Leads Into Closings (10:30a - 11:30a)

It's one thing to learn how to drive traffic to your site, it's entirely different to actually convert that traffic into a commission. Learn the regiment required to get industry leading conversions with the prospects on your website. There is no reason the leads on your site should be treated like the rest of the industry treats theirs. Resolve to do something different.

Meet the Speaker: Ben Kinney & Bob Stewart

Lunch (11:30a - 12:30p)

Real World Social Media Success Stories - PANEL  (12:30p - 1:15p)

Listen to real agents on the street who are using Social media to enhance their business. Let them tell you how they did it. Not every story is the same but the critical component is this: They took the leap and the rewards are well worth the effort.

Panel Moderator: Brad Andersohn

30 Technologies You Don't Know But Should (1:15p - 1:30p)

Does this really need an explanation? Yes it does, so you'll need to come and hear it.

Meet the Speaker: Ben Kinney

Becoming the Online Mayor of Your Community (1:30p - 2:00p)

The end game of all real estate social media strategies. Learn how to put yourself at the online center of your real community. This is market area "farming" and done by the cutting edge elite. Take full advantage of the resources available and create a plan to put yourself in the middle of the flow of information in your market.

Meet the Speaker: Brad Andersohn & Ben Kinney

Break (2:30p - 2:45p)

Hyper-local Blogging for Business (2:45p - 4:00p)

What is Hyper-local? Why does it matter? How does focusing on hyper-local content give you more qualified leads that are ready to act quicker? Find out how to target your next client by providing the information they are looking for when they are really getting close to buying.

Meet the Speaker: Bob Stewart & Ben Kinney

It seems like many of our "rainers" would be willing to travel to go to this event.  If you are not in the immediate location or near Seattle, not to worry, save your travel expenses.  We will be bringing RainCamp on the road.  Eventually we'll put together a "Dates & Locations" Calendar for future events.  :-)

Brad,

Sounds like a great event and I'm sure it will grow into a multi-day event as you get the initial kinks worked out.  It would be nice to attend (not only for the session, but my aunt keeps telling me I MUST come to Seattle for a visit), but it is very expensive to fly from Indy to Seattle.  I'd love to see the schedule when it comes out.  Do you Have any idea how long before you start to develop the road schedule?

That sounds like a great time, Brad.  If it's even 1/10th of the fun the Phoenix AR workshop was, you'll have quite a success on your hands.  I wish I was able to attend.  If it was at another time, I would be able to.  It would be a great excuse to get up there and see family, too.  But, that happens to be a really (thankfully) busy time in my schedule right now.  Keep us updated as you add new venues and dates.  I may be back to see you guys again and learn more.  You and Bob put on a fantastic workshop!

Brad,

First for the kind words in the email you sent me earlier today on my featured post - it really is overwhelming when something like that happens.

If I might offer a suggestion.  I was at a small 'social networking' conference with about 50 participants about 2 weeks ago.  The first half was content and the 2nd half of the day was suppose to be spent online having us all set up basic profiles on some of the popular social sites.

The problem was there were participants with all levels of experience and some of us already had some of the profiles - and we were all using different browsers.  So needless to say when the instructors were showing us something 2/3's of the room went "Huh, how did he get there?"

My suggestion is to break the group into 2 or even 3 skill levels and teach accordingly.  Also, control what everyone is looking at on their own laptops.

As savvy as you are you are no doubt part of the top 1% of users who really understand the technology. The problem is when you have 20% er's there they get really bogged down by the 50% that haven't got a clue and slow the whole process down.

I'm sure you guys will be much better prepared than the local instructors I gave my money to, but just words of advise that I'm sure you'll have covered.

With that being said, I want to know if you have a schedule for the 'road show'? Looking forward to So Cal - maybe Hemet or San Jacinto?  yeah right.

Your friend,

John

and wait a minute - that's not an AR event in the picure - it can't be...they are ALL using those apple computers.  That will NEVER happen

Posted by Roland Woodworth,SFR - Clarksville Short Sale and Foreclosure Resource (Exit Realty Clarksville) 4 months ago

Well it looks like we're getting a great response from almost every area, maybe we'll have to use this post to schedule our future raincamps.

I promise, as soon as we have a calendar put together, we'll be adding it to the raincamp.com site.  We have to get through the first one before we can setup and schedule all the others.

Here's an idea, maybe we could rent an RV limo, and just hit all 50 states in 50 days. Bob and Ben? :-)

Posted by Brad Andersohn ~ Community Manager (ActiveRain) 4 months ago

If you are renting an RV, I need to be involved. That's my dream life. In any event, I'll head your Cheerleading team in WNC if necessary. I'm curious how you plan to market the program to those who, well, you know... the disparity lies in those who, unbelievably, have not heard of AR, or who don't get it when they go to AR and look around... those who are waiting until next Spring when things go back to the way they were. Can't wait until you are on the East coast (did I hear AR might be in Raleigh-Durham?).

Posted by Kathryn Gorham Emerald Isle NC Crystal Coast (Sun Surf Realty) 4 months ago

Just went online to check out airline rates from BWI to Seatlle, and it's surprisingly affordable.  In fact, there's a layover in Dalls - and it costs me more for a flight to Dallas to visit my daughter than it does to change planes and keep traveling to Seattle.  LOL.  Maybe I should have checked my schedule first... off to do that next.

Hey Brad, you're already in California so that one should be easy, right?  I'd be happy to help too if you need it.  (Did event coordination in a previous life).

Posted by Karen Crowson (Alain Pinel Realtors, Livermore, CA) 4 months ago

Brad - I have to agree with John from Hemet re: the skill level issue at hands-on trainings.  I've put on 5 hands-on AR workshops here in the Phoenix area.  They are designed to get people familiar with AR's layout, complete a profile, learn how to search, join groups, and post that first, simple blog post.  I am having a lot of success with these, and yours will be a grand slam!

As for the skill levels, my workshops have from 8-12 people.  My sales rep, Paul Guenther, helps me work the room as problems pop up.  Sometimes the "problems" tend to be with one or two people only;).  Are you prepared to have extra hands on deck to work the crowd?  It only takes a couple people to slow down the affair dramatically.  I'd love to volunteer my assistance when you make it back to the Phoenix area.  Heck LA, San Diego or Vegas are not that far if we could work something out...

AWESOME!!!!!  Come to Texas....PLEASE!!!!  We want rain in Texas!!!  Both kinds...Active Rain and the real stuff!  This is great news!

Apparently I am missing the boat guys!  All I do is get on and read your blogs and comments.  I'm clueless as to how Active Rain can help my business.  I'd appreciate any pointers you can offer.  Do I need to attach a blog to my website?

Would LOVE to go, but out of my range.  Any chance of coming to the Northeast in the future or doing webinars so we can get in on this?

Posted by Barbara Altieri Connecticut Real Estate (RealtyQuest) 4 months ago

Brad the ticket price is not the issue for me, airfare and travel expenses would be.  When do plan to take it on the road and where too?  Suggest the SF Bay Area would be a good place to start.

You probably won't make it to Oklahoma, but Dallas would be nice. Lot of nice restuarants down there.

@Melonie - I just left you a Voice Mail message in case you come back here to see if I responded.  Call me. :-)

Since everyone is wanting a RainCamp in their area, we may be contacting many of you in each of your areas to help us work out some of the details like: Best Locations, Venues available, Best dates and times etc.  The offering of help and member support here is phenominal.  Your assistance and involvement in these RainCamps will be what makes them all a success.  Thanks in advance for helping us bring these to you.

Hi Brad, This is wonderful and I suspect that While everyone is here in San Diego for NAR, we can do a training here as well. Sign me up. San Diego REBar Camp is scheduled for the 12th of November ( just a reminder)

Brad, can't wait for you to come to the east coast.  Personally, I think tripleplay is a great idea and venue but would be happy to help with a visit to NY/NJ areas.

Posted by Lora "Leah" Stern, Realtor Rockland County Real Estate (Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage) 4 months ago

Of course I'd be happy to help with ATL.  And if you are doing the limo/RV thing, you need a day between events, so it would be 50 events in 100 days...  Unless the event was shorter.

Brad. Are you going to have this training in the Los Angeles area?  If not, can you arrange an online "recorded" version? I would be willing to pay for this important info.

Posted by MARK VELASCO-Luxury Homes for sale in Ca Arcadia, San Marino, South Pasadena & LA (Realty Source) 4 months ago

Mark - all I can say is we have some pretty big visions and plans, that's one thing everyone knows about AR, always driving forward fast and furious and pushing the envelope. :-))

There will be videos available I'm sure, but we"ll probably be coming down there soon. RainCamps will continue to grow and just keep getting better, just like the network here has done.  They'll also be a lot of fun.  So keep your ear out....

Awk, I want to be there.  Seattle is the closest you will ever get to me.  I hope there are still tickets left when I get paid Wednesday.

Liz - you can check on yelp or google for places to stay, you can also pack a lunch or go out to lunch with others, it's your call.

Hi Fran - I just sent you an email, we should still have a couple left on Wednesday. I'll see that you get a ticket.  :-)

I'll find out more about future locations and dates for RainCamps in other areas once I get to Seattle. Headed out to New York this week for the MLSTechFair, looking forward to seeing many of you at "RainCamp" next week.

I am so excited! Taking the 6:20am ferry - hope the walk to the venue is what Google map says - under a mile. It is either get there early or right at 9 - I picked early!

Posted by Jo Soss [360] 990-1433 (HomeFront Realty ) 4 months ago

Scott - networking is at the top of my list as well.  :-)

Fred - I know there will be wireless access at this venue, the laptop should be all you'll need.  I'm not sure about the AR headquarter tour, but you can bring that up when you get there.

Jo - maybe we could have someone come get you, I'd rather see that then have you walk the mile.
Looking forward to finally meeting you in person.

Brad, Thank you so much - it really is .8mile - I am sure I will be fine. Picking up might be more of a hassle for the person driving.  Put on your Nikes and meet me half way - j/k. See you early!

Well as you all know Southern California is a hotbed of terrific bloggers and social media types, along with being home to some of the best weather around. Certainly that alone warrants a trip south, perhaps to the Los Angeles area. There have been 2 RE BAr camps so far with a 3rd in San Diego on Nov 11. Surely AR Bar Camp wants an opportunity to shine here in SoCal! Early in 2010?

I hope you come to Dallas, because I need to get out of town. Besides two of my favorite Japanese restuarants are there, Steel and the Tei Tei Robata Bar.

I spoke with Jon yesterday at RainCamp Seattle, and there were many cities discussed that we will be visiting. A post will be coming out soon announcing the dates and locations. To see more about what folks are saying about RainCamp, go to http://search.twitter.com and type in the hashtag #raincamp.  Looking forward to bringing the raincamp to your areas very soon. Thanks you guys.  :-)

Linda - we are coming to DC next year for sure!!  WooHoo!  :-)

Virginia - we just wrapped up San Francisco, next stop is New York 1/12/10.  We'll announce the other cities shortly, we have 6 or 7 others almost confirmed.

Posted by Brad Andersohn ~ Community Manager (ActiveRain) 2 months ago

Can you please put the dates on the website somewhere so we can stay apprised of them?  I am unable to make the one in January - not enough notice - I'm already booked through mid February and have limited availaility through September 2010!  I want to get it on the calendar as soon as possible so I can make it!!!!

Posted by Melissa Marro www.StagingAndRedesign.com www.WeStageSC.com (First Impressions) 2 months ago

Melissa - great to hear you're that busy!!  We'll post a calendar at RainCamp.com once we have more dates and venues confirmed.  As you can imagine, the planning and cordination of these RainCamps is enormous.  We probably won't have anything on the calendar that goes past April or May 2010.  We'll keep you posted though...   :-)
